Metal Gear and Solid Snake to be re-released

The MSX classics Metal Gear and Solid Snake will be re-released again! Unfortunately not for our beloved MSX system, but for the PS3 and XBox 360 as part of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. The European release date is set to February 3rd 2012. While all the Metal Gear Solid games have been remastered to be shown in HD quality, the MSX games are most likely the same versions as previously distributed with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.  

The Playstation 3 version will include 'transfarring', a method to transfer your game and gamestate between your PS3 and your portable consoles such as the Vita.

I certainly hope that they enhance the MSX emulator used to run those MG1 & MG2. The emulator that was used on the PS2 version had a horrible framerate.

November 8th is the North American release date, November 23rd the Japan release date, leaving February 3rd 2012 as European release. At least according to Metalgear Wikia and its cited sources.

@sd_snatcher.. they had a horrible framerate on the PAL release because they ran at their original speeds (same as the NTSC versions) on PAL 50 (50hz). 60/30 fps on PAL (50hz) will retain the speed that's intended, but produce a horrible framerate. Nowadays we use HDTV's with 60hz or an upped equivalent, so we won't notice that in these new ports.
Also, the ps2 versions were ports, not emulators.

the game data swaping methode is called "Transfur" any way it sucks that i'll have to wait Tongue i was hoping it came out in the last 2 months of 2011

I don't know the PAL version, I only played the NTSC one. The framerate was horrible on this one too. I don't think those are ports, because the PS2 can do 2D games much faster than that. Just compare with the Metal Slug games ported to the PS2.

hm, I always thought the framerate was poor because it was running on PAL mode with NTSC speed, but apparantly it's missing frames regardless.

Before appearing on PS2, these games were first rereleased on mobile phones. This might explain the framerate.

Some reasons why I think they're ports:
- The music seems recorded, not emulated.
- There's graphical alterations; not just sprites, but the games are upscaled+blurred, with a new high res. font that would not be possible on 256x212.
