I've recently been getting back into MSX stuff and I've been wondering if anybody has any recommendations for games outside the usual Konami and Compile "stables". So far, I've been trying some of the highly ranked (winners and runners-up) from the MSXdev competitions, but what else is out there that I'm missing?

Search for "msx-1 mania", it has only 1000+ msx-1 games.. Smile I cannot recommend every game though... Big smile

It depends which kind of games you like, if you like olympic games, I can recommend Winter Games and Winter Olympics, both are colourful games! Smile If you prefer summertime, then go for Activision Decathlon!!!! :-)

Hmmm.... Buzz Off!, Shark Hunter, Bug-Byte´s Turmoil (not the same as Panasonic cartridge), Actman, what-was-that-Mass Tael´s-penguin-game-which-had-many-subgames-like-extinguishing-fire-from-igloos, Ghostbusters, H.E.R.O., Pitfall II, Time bandits, Maxima, Chuckie Egg, Ocean´s Donkey Kong (if you don´t mind almost direct spectrum port, but that really colourful mario sprite looks really great!!), but it really depends, what kind of games you like or not.....

It may be easier to answer, if you tell us, do you mind if recommendations are Spectrum ports? There are good ´n nice games among them, but graphics are taken from Spectrum of course..

Winter Olympics was the game we got with the MSX1 when my dad bought it... I can't really recommend it...

Mmm, I've always loved the Hudson (Driller Tanks, Fire Rescue, Pretty Sheep, etc.) games and Activision ones (Hero, River Raid, Pitfall II, Pastfinder, etc.). Try them Smile

How does one go about getting those? From what I can see, they look amazing (the later ones look to be easily the equivalent of anything the Japanese made in the MSX RPG field) but apart from Pumpkin Adventure 1, nothing's online to download!
