If you want to load megaroms then try megamu (Megarom emulator). This works fine and works with MSX2 if I remember it well.
If you want to load DSK files and you don't have a turboR just try to adapt the game before loading it with start.com and maybe it will work (adapt.com)

Of course, for rom images, getting the megaflash is the best choice IMHO. personales.mundivia.es/mpazos

Good luck.

Yes, the MegaFlashSCC 512 KB is a good deal. And easier to get than a SCC+. But, of course, an SCC+ expanded to 128 KB rules! Only 1 MBit games, but easy to use, so Konami and SCC-I sound rules!

Man, the best tool to convert DSK images to disks or vice versa is "DSKPRO 3.0".
And it works in any MSX, and uses memory mapper in any slot, if available.
Take a look. Its the best!

I am going to answer these questions into step forms so that you guys will be able to answer them in steps form and it gives me all the necessary guide lines I need. I wish to thank you in advance for answering my delimna in advance:

1) If I own an MSX computer that holds 64 KB of RAM it can run MOST OF THE ROM games?

2) I heard you can actually run the ROM images to the real machine without using the original cartridge, is that true?

3) If it is true where can I download all the necessary tools that allow me to run the ROM images into the computer and does it come with necessary manual to teach me how to do it correctly? (Original catrdiges are almost impossible to come by, the cost lots of money, extremely heavy, take lots of space and so on)

4) Is there a catridge I can insert into one of the cartridge slots that allows a person to upgrade his MSX computer from 64 KB RAM TO 256 KB? If so what is it called and is there at least a link to show the picture to do it?

5) I heard or saw before a cartridge that allows a person to insert into one of the cartridge slots that allows the person to hook it to an external disk drive. Thus you have an external disk drive for your MSX system, if so can you provide a link with a picture so I can see it and what is it called so I can start researching it online for access?

6) Can MSX+2 RUN ALL THE MSX games, do games work on MSX computer regardgless of region? (i,e PAL OR NTSC)

7) Can someone point out to me ALL THE BEST RPG GAMES EVER and strategy GAMES ever for the MSX that I can have with them? Thanks in advance.

8) What is the MSX command I can use to format the floppy disks to be read only on the MSX computer?

1-3: on MSX2 or higher with 512K of RAM you can play 99.9% of everything. Otherwise it gets complicated or too pricey if you start buying cartridges. LoadROM, MSX FAQ and Google are your friends for running ROMs in RAM.
4. You need External Memory Mapper or MegaRAM, but many MSX owners prefer modding.
5. There are also flash card and harddisk based drives, they are easier to find and buy than floppy interface cartridge
6. On some regions some cartridges may show other title screen, etc. If you run ROM in RAM, you can alter this behavior.

8. Be read ONLY on MSX ? There is no such thing in the universe. Disks formatted on MSX can be read in DOS and Windows (at least).
Formatting is done from BASIC using CALL FORMAT or from MSX-DOS using standard FORMAT command or other tools.

@foody
RPGs: to name a few of the usual suspects SD-snatcher, entire xak saga, Ys 1-3, Dragonslayer 6, Illusion City, Pumpkin adventure 3, The Lost world. Those last two can still be ordered at sunrise I think. Burai 1 and 2 are also quite good if the japanese language is no obstacle.

strategy games: Daisenryaku 2, Herzog, Daiva 5 from the top of my head.

foody said: That is where I need your help in this regard, if I want External Memory Mapper or ESPECIALLY THE MegaRAM which is what I really want to get my handles on where can I get it? I tried eBay but I am not finding it there. Is there an online store where I can order it? Second, if I want to go through the modding method which store would do it for me and where would they sell the RAM

foody said: Where would I find those, how do they work, is there a website that tells me how to get it working? How am I going to transfer files from PC to the MSX through the HD, don't you still need a disk drive?
