I also found this old list of MSX stuff: http://www.verycomputer.com/111_57a0b024598b7261_1.htm
It includes also the BIT2 program. But also lots of other things that I never heard of!

That was the only mention of BIT2 I could find online :o

Sorry. We have quite a bit of old cassette software but none of those I don't think, I'll have to check with my dad as that stuff is all his.

That program is as old as me Tongue My dad got it free with his SFG-005 module in England but we later emigrated to Australia so I have no idea. I know that the same "AE" logo that you see in the load screen is embossed on the adapter pcb between his Cannon v-20 msx and the module so Accessories Etc. probably sold the whole lot to him directly.

The CAStools : http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~vincentd/

I've used wav2cas.exe -np bit2.wav bit2.cas as instruction (it's very important to use the parameters -np)

Are the FM registers available to BASIC, so that one could write one's own sound editors or even sequencers in BASIC?

The YRM-104 (FM Music Macro without disk support) and YRM-504 (FM Music Macro II with disk support) cartridges add new BASIC extensions in a similar way to the MSX-MUSIC and MSX-AUDIO BASIC extensions.

Thanks, will have to look for those if I ever purchase a cx5m then. Are they rare to find?

Not super common but not impossible to find… I have YRM-104 myself and I think I might also have YRM-504 (it says "YRM-501 FM Music Macro II" on the label which is obviously wrong Smile). The ROM of the former you can find on cx5m.net. Not sure what extra features the latter adds.
