I am just getting in to the Metal Gear Series, I played SSBB a few years ago and just decided "well i'll just go ahead and play the first two games after all these years". I'm having trouble saving PROPERLY though (don't like how states work, never have), cause' it uses a cassette system, and I can't get it to work. Could someone walk me through and help?

http://openmsx.sourceforge.net/manual/faq.html#savegame explains the Metal Gear save procedure. It's written for openMSX and I don't know how to operate blueMSX for it, but perhaps it's helpful anyway.

Saving states are much easier, shouldn't be a problem for you to figure out how to do it ...

RTFM Smile

The internal saving procedures of the games are not recommended. Although they work also in blueMSX, they can have limitations that the save states don't have.

You also could use Game Master 2 + Metal Gear for saving to disk instead of cassette Wink Game Master 2 in slot 1 and Metal Gear in slot 2 and pressing STOP and then CTRL in game.

I know how to use states, but I just don't like how they work.

I actually like having to 1: save at certin points or use a menu option and 2: be booted back to a certin point upon dieing or quiting
