Hi Ramones!

Ramones wrote:

Finally I have a new version (I hope the definitive version) of the firmware and MSX ROM driver:

So, your interface is ready-to-go. Excellent!

Ramones wrote:

[] Support Keyboard HID Boot Protocol and Keyboard HID Report Protocol. Now you can to use the keyboard in old PC BIOS, embedded systems who only support Keyboards with Boot Protocol. (Only supported on "keyboard only" mode).

[] New asynchronous communication system. Now you can change the interface (from one computer to another) without synchronise with the MSX.

[] CAPS LEDs HID Boot Protocol support. The LED is handled from host.

Trying to clarify our posts from here, I am going to talk about our Interface as: "MSX2USB by 2ndF Interface" and, to refer to your interface as: "ARDUINO MSX2USB by Ramones Interface". Of course, only until you decide to give another name to your interface, if you want.

[] MSX2USB by 2ndF Interface uses HID Boot Protocol when avalaible, and , if not recognized, changes to HID Report Protocol automatically. This is not because of me, but because of the manufacturer of the chip of the interface, as we are using the USB Hid Implemetation provided by the manufacturer.

[] MSX2USB by 2ndF Interface uses asynchonous unidirectional communication system. Sinchronization with the MSX is not neccesary. You can change the interface from one device to anoter as many times as you want.

[] MSX2USB by 2ndF Interface is not handling the MSX CAPS Led. You do need to remember to press the CAPS key manually to set off the LED before pluging it into a new computer or device.

For this last two points, the MSX2USB by 2ndF interface have been created that way because of hardware economy and portability, allowing us to be able to use any other chip with USB HID protocol supported and 8 bits Inputport, for its construction, different form the one that we are using now.

MSX2USB by 2ndF interface is not Multidevice, so , there is no switch mode option.

Ramones wrote:

[] Tested on: Linux, OSX, Raspberry Pi 2 and Windows.

[] MSX2USB by 2ndF Interface have been tested on:
- Minicomputers (One Board Computers) as Pi Raspberri
- Tablets and Smartphones
- Consoles (Wii Playstation, Xbox)
*For applications that allow the use of Standard USB Keyboard, (like PS4 Internet Browser) and for those games allowing the use of a Standard USB Keyboard as game controller.
- SmartTV (TVs with Internet connection)
- PC Computing PCs and salon (Barebones, Media Center)- Etc..
as described in http://msx2usb.tk

Ramones wrote:

[] Configuration (selected mode) is stored on the interface. Now you don’t need select the mode with the MSX driver boots. The interface use the last configuration.

MSX2USB by 2ndF interface is not Multidevice, so there is no configuration available to be stored in the device. It has one working mode only.

Ramones wrote:

[] Joystick support in Keyboard only mode. The Joystick (port#1 and port#2) is mapped to CURSOR KEYS, SPACE (button 1) and “N” (button 2).

[] MSX2USB by 2ndF Interface Joystick support works mapping both MSX Joysticks, as in your Keyboard Only mode.

Joystick1 is mapped to CURSOR KEYS, SPACE (button 1) and “N” (button 2).

Joystick2 is mapped to "W"(Up),"S"(Down),"A"(Left),"D"(Right) KEYS, "Z" (button 1) and “X” (button 2).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, as we agreed by private email, I am going to a "Why would you like to use MSX2USB interface" description:

1. Because we prefer to use a MSX Keyboard and Joysticks.
2. Because we can revive any MSX (MSX1 or later) computer by using it. (You can use your MSX1 again playing games on your Smart TV or salon device like MediaCenter, Barebones, Android Device, Console or RPi's like minicomputers,.
3. Or if you are a programmer, you can program in your main computer using the same Keyboard that you used to learn Programming for the very first time.
4. You can create your own MSX Software to use the interface in a different way, mapping another Keys, creating combos and automated writing from the MSX, and so on.
5. "Place here your own reason" :)

Note that the features described above can be done by BOTH Interfaces.

So, if you buy a "MSX2USB by 2ndF interface", you can do the things described above with your MSX, and if yoy buy a "ARDUINO MSX2USB by Ramones Interface"(Provisional Name) you can do the things described above as well.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, I am going to write the general questions everybody is asking. NOTE that what I am going to write now is valid for BOTH Interfaces:

Price and availability.
Price: Not a final price decided yet. Rage is 60€ Maximum price, and 40€ Minimum price, approx. Ask us by Email:

"ARDUINO MSX2USB by Ramones Interface" Price: Write an email to majingazetto@gmail.com asking him for the price.

"MSX2USB by 2ndF Interface" Price: Write an email to EHR_2ndf@outlook.com asking us for the price, or fill up the form at http://msx2usb.tk

Availability:

"ARDUINO MSX2USB by Ramones Interface" Availability: as far as I now, there are 10 units avalaible now. Write an email to majingazetto@gmail.com for futher details.

"MSX2USB by 2ndF Interface" Availability: Only a few. We do need at least 5 buyers to place an order to manufacture more. An price depends on the number of people interested on buy it. The more people , the cheaper price. Write an email to EHR_2ndf@outlook.com asking us for futher details, or fill up the form at http://msx2usb.tk

Software needed.

Both Devices need additional sofware to work.

"MSX2USB by 2ndF Interface":
[] The software will be available for download at http://msx2usb.tk in the formats: .ROM, .BIN, .COM,.CAS,.WAV and .MP3 . Last three ones for MSX users without any storage device, to be able to load the software using MSX Cassette Cable.
[] The software will be send to the buyer in a 3,5" Diskette as well by default, printed manual will be send as well.
[] The software will be available in the future in a FlashRom Cartridge (this is the best solution for MSX1 users). The flasrom cartridge will be send apart and will need to be payed apart to the manufacturer. We won't get any profit from it. Price of this cartridge is unknown as it will depend on its manufacturer.

"ARDUINO MSX2USB by Ramones Interface":
[] Please write a private email to majingazetto@gmail.com as we don't know how is he going to distribute his software.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

¿Any other questions?

"ARDUINO MSX2USB by Ramones Interface":
[] Please write a private email to majingazetto@gmail.com for futher information and place orders.

"MSX2USB by 2ndF Interface":
[] Please visit our website http://msx2usb.tk or write a private email to EHR_2ndf@outlook.com com for futher information and place orders.

Good! Yes, this is my idea, with the software driver, too. Release a COM, ROM, BIN and CAS version. ;)

I agree. If a user/customer want a physical cartridge, I could sell and send apart. As you said, best solution for MSX without disk drive.

Hello everybody!

We've a created a YouTube channel called "MSX2USB" and I've uploaded its first video showing the usage of MSX2USB interface, with better video quality than video posted before.

This is the link:
