Hi again guys, I posted a recent topic in the Software sub-forum about my MSX-BASIC not working. Naturally I've also attempted to run the system disk that came with my computer (a Panasonic FS-A1F purchased on eBay).
At first, the floppy drive's red light wasn't on ( I don't think...). When selecting the disk option on the main boot screen I would get an error message stating there was no disk present. So I took the computer apart, and checked the FDD. Perhaps a cable was loose or something, because after checking a few things and putting it back together, the red light now turns on.
However I started hearing the rotor spinning loudly; finally I realized that the previous owner had removed the rubber belt altogether! So after purchasing a new belt online and scraping the gummy remains of the old belt, I install the new one, and boot up the computer WITHOUT a disk inserted. The motor turns, along with the belt; but as soon as I insert a floppy disk, the drive stops working. And the only sign I get from the drive is the still ever-on red light (meaning from what I've read online that the drive is not being recognized as connected properly?)
I'm waiting on my MegaFlashRom now so this problem won't be such once that arrives. I'd still very much like to be able to fix this drive to enjoy some FDD games in the mean time though! Any ideas?
