once you're ready to release I'll add your ROM to the openMSX ROM database with all the right info Smile

Given how many spots for extra spit and polish I've found (fancier title screen, maybe displaying the score while the game is running, a few more sound effects, multiple levels of CPU opponents, more verbose guides what to do, changing the cursor to show if a move is allowed, making it work also on TurboR, ...), I don't know when that'll be. Especially if I decide to try to optimize the code a bit to make the CPU's turns faster.

I can't think of what else to add to the game outside of doing very small graphics updates - it's got that slightly fancier title screen, score displayed during the game, two sound effects (play a card, change of turn), two CPU opponent levels and in the movement phase, the pointer shows when a move is not permitted. And the CPU was very slightly optimized.

I was suggested that I could add instructions in the game, but with my inability to be either concise or clear, I think I'll just stick with the TXT file in the ZIP.
The current version (ROM and the TXT rules).

I'll just call it done at the end of September and start submitting it to various websites. Probably without giving out my name.

TBH, I'm surprised at how many new MSX games are still made, and I don't feel the same desperation as I do around Wii U.

Thanks for sharing, nice game.
If I had to make a suggestion, it would be the same, in-game instructions.
And one small bug, the title screen looks wrong on japanese MSX models because you used non-standard ASCII characters:

Okay, so I do have to make that one extra graphics update I was thinking of :-)

I'll try and see to it today.

Eh, this'll be the last version of the game for the foreseeable future. This should fix those characters and add in-game instructions to the main menu.

EDIT: Had a wrong version linked.

I just played a game and it's actually pretty fun. I managed to beat the AI, but I think it was out of pure luck, since I still don't know what is the best strategy. But it is quite original, nice!

1) That's why you might want to play the game against a real person with real cards; they'll likely play it faster, too. In any case, CPU2 is the 'smarter' AI. It's still pretty daft, though.
2) Thank you - I made up the rules myself.

Great improvement!
I think you should consider creating more less than stellar games Smile

Oh look, MSXdev'17. Yeah, I'm really considering trying to finish my current unfinished project for it. Although, I have shown a few video clips of its engine "running", so I don't know if that disqualifies it.
