I always want to know how good is Novaxis SCSI accessing to CF or CDROM so is the time for a nice setup what I remember it need MSDOS cartridge installed first. so my MSX computer candidates are:
Victor HC-95 (HYbrid MSX2 with Z80/HD64180 CPU and Turbo mode at 6mhz)
Panasonic A1WX (with Turbo option at 5.13mhz)
Philips NMS-8280 (with Turbo Switch at 7mhz)
Panasonic Turbo R A1ST(with R800 Turbo mode at 7.15mhz)
I have the Novaxis SCSI with Bios Ver 1.51 successfully installed on my NMS-8280 with 9958 VDP and 1024KB Internal RAM upgraded also DOS1/DOS2.20 via SWITCH at FRONT
also the SCSI CF Interface was set to ID #1 and the HOST ID from MSX side was set to #7 via the NOVAXIS SETUP (DEL Key at boot)
after that I had mounted a Novaxis HDD TOOLs (.DSK) and executed NFDISK.COM where I had created 1 only 16MB partition.
I'm just using the basic tools from 1995 I think Tomorrow I'll try Louthrax Patches and will see.
I also had CD-ROM working with my Novaxis SCSI setup. All using the old tools.
Must I was not expecting much "customers" for this patch (how many people still using Novaxis interfaces with a real CD-ROM drive in the world)
?
I still have a working setup with HDD & CD in the closet, but indeed... It is kind of hard to justify the space it takes from table in this modern world with SD-cards... I think only possible way it could end up back to use would be if I would for some reason decide to build MSX in to old PC tower some day... Sounds kind of unlikely.
After testing 4 different SCSI CDROM's Finally I found one very promising now I need to find a CADDY for it.
Hey Louthrax could please make a ISO Image so i can burn and test my Novaxis/CDROM setup?
I have Downloaded Knightmare Gold R3 from Daniel Caetano Homepage but no luck playing CD AUDIO MUSIC through the main game I think the new code is just checking for Sunrise Interface only.
@Manuel: What MSX Emulator can Emulate SCSI CDROM from GOUDA/SUNRISE/MEGASCSI Interfaces?
@NYYRIKKI: have you ever tried to play CD AUDIO through Novaxis Interface?
P.S: the SCSI CDROM used is : NAKAMICHI MJ-5.16 (16X 5 Disc CDROM Mini Changer) Manufactured Year: 1999
and MSXCDEX used was version #0.41 (fixed by Louthrax)
I vaguely remember playing CD AUDIO on my Novaxis... wasn't there a tool from Erik Maas?
openMSX emulates SCSI CD-ROM, but not audio CD. It was never really used much, so it should still be considered experimental.
OMG that mean NOOooo... AUDIO CD EMULATION in almost 20 year of perfect emulation that is sad.
