Hi Eric,
I heard it should work with Wine (both command line and UI version). A port of the command line version should be easy to do (it’s just very generic C code).

Yes, I'm looking for something exactly like this (command line), but for linux.

According to this this page, this is where I should report bugs.

I'm trying to convert an indexed color, 4bit/16-color PNG to screen 5 .SC5, and I believe the tool produces faulty conversion. See image below with 2 examples of pixel deviation. Are my settings wrong?

Also, the tool pads on with lots of black space "before and after" --I cannot find a way to just convert plainly, without padding stuff 8-/ Any tips appreciated.

Ok. I reckon this tool isn't really maintained? So, yeah, I just wrote a tool in python to do the job myself. things are really simple in python. import pypng and you're pretty much ready to go Smile

Hi Bengalak,

I missed you previous post. The MIF tools are not really maintained anymore because of lack of time, but with the current situation, I might have a look at this issue.

MIF tools are mainly used for full screen conversion, that's why you have padding around your result I guess.

About the fault pixels, that's more weird. If you send me your source picture I could investigate.

Hi - yes! Fully understand. (...and one cannot constantly monitor these pages anyways!)
No need to look into this point - I have made a simplified png2sc5.py (that reuses the palette in the png) that works for me, so no stress. Thanks for the offer though! Appreciate that you answer this. If the unlikely situation is, tat you reckon this is a bigger problem, and you really want to fix it, I can prolly dig up the original file again.
