Thank you for your offer Alexey!
Here a Risky Rick online demo (sandbox mini-level) for testing your skill (and memory) using the differents weapons and activating traps to defeat the enemies and escape the room!
How representative of the final game is this demo? Like, is the game... all about trial-and-error memorization, like in this demo? I was under the impression it would be more about exploration and discovery.
If this is more a demo designed to show off your abilities, and not so much the general design of the game, you may want to consider putting up a different demo, as this one definitely makes the game out to be more of a challenge gauntlet, which may be underselling the final product a bit.
Technically pretty cool, though -- nice graphics, and the play control feels very "classic."

So, it's a 49kb ROM located on first 3 pages and starting from the second page - pretty standard approach - no mapper needed. I tried to play the game a bit and found it pretty much unplayable with the current keyboard layout. IMO the current buttons assignment is horrible and unless some customization is possible, the game will be a pain to play.
I also recommend to change the way that the items, lives and score are shown now - you can barely see the small icons because they blend into the game's graphics. It would be wiser to have the icons and score shown in the upper part of the screen and on the black background (like in classic Konami's games). This will reduce the vertical visibility of the level's structures a bit, but this way the important icons will be much better visible.
Thank you for your comments.
Risky Rick is an action/platform game with arcade/scoring strategy gameplay, not an adventure game.
The keymaps was suggested by spanish peoples testing the game with MSX not having the cursor keys appropriated to play with them. Others are playing with a controller (on emulator too). But, the final version will have more controller settings. Please, use the emulator configuration to set your own controller key-remap to play this demo.

About the score and items, your suggestion is legitimate and was already tested.
As you said, the screen visibility will be reduced verticaly. So, you will hide more visual informations for the player. Konami games are mainly fixed screens or horizontal scroll, while Risky Rick is mainly vertical scroll and require 192 lines for the playfield. (by the way, we keep your feedback in mind. Thank you)
We have the MSX which has a great feature: the cursor keys... it's strange a game isn't using them, then!
I found it a bit frustrating that if you make one small mistake, you start over. I didn't get past that 'needle' thing which is above that staircase on the 3rd floor or so :S

One small hint: there is a block falling down
Ow... yeah. I was just happy I wasn't crushed, but perhaps it's actually useful
For those complaining about the "trial and error" nature of the game. This is basically a game based on Rick Dangerous for the Amiga. That's how the game was! So, it's not like the designers of this particular game are doing a bad job at game design or anything, it's just that that's the essence of the gameplay of the original. In some levels of Rick Dangerous 2, I remember there was little "arrow hints" that would help you find buttons you had to press, and later in the game, there was some misleading hints that if you followed you would be killed! I remember it being a lot of fun, but maybe not a game for everyone
That death sound effect sounds so chilling! I’m dying on purpose now .

YOU have... And WE have MSX with a great feature: joystick ports to play games.
Because, some peoples have cursor keys only usable to move... the cursor:
Think to others. We are testing keys for them. The demo do not have multi-keys to play.
You can redefine emulator keys as explained before your post, or plug a controller. :D
