Hi all!

It's been a week since I first heard the term MSX, shame on me. I was looking for an addition to my collection of antique philips gear (I'm dutch, it seemed only logical) and fell in love with a philips MSX8020 (because of its looks). Yesterday I managed to get hold of a set that also included a monitor, tape recorder and a matrix printer. I'm anticipating lots of fun Big smile

I first started programming in GW-Basic at least 20 years ago, and I'm currently an embedded / firmware / prototype / graphics / just dump any project that needs C or assembly on me / kind of developer Tongue Anyway... It would be cool to find some other weirdo's like me that like to do some hardcore coding and maybe even collaborate or something at a later stage Smile

Well... See you around!

yeah, the vg 8020 was my first msx too.. 35 years ago. Bought it at the employee only philips store in eindhoven. Lend the employee pass from my friends father. I am sure half of the people buying there borrowed the philips pass Smile
But hey, back to the topic, welcome too the msx scene. I am sure once you have started with msx, away is your free/spare time Smile

Philips collection Smile
I guess it's as good reason to get an MSX as any! Philips did good MSXs.

Yes, VG-8020 is a nice looking machine.

Thanks guys! That 8220 looks cool too, I'll probably want an msx2 too later on Smile Just managed to get everything up and running after fixing the keyboard (pro keyboard my @$$)... And got some cartridges on the way.
Kind of debating where to start now, probably make a simple game first, then move on and try to do some custom hardware. I think the +-12v on the port offers a nice possibility to interface with modular analog synths, we'll see Smile
Ps: Is it me or are there a LOT of Dutch people doing MSX?
