So the driver is allowed to turn the interrupt on, even when it was disabled before?

For a programmers point of view, when you use the diskrom to access a disk, the interrupt gets enabled? (always?)

Well, it is good practice to enable the interrupts as soon as possible, and that is what most driver routines do. Because various functions (keyboard scan and all sorts of basic things) are processed by the interrupts handler, interrupts should be disabled as short as possible.
Some driver routines are really short in terms of executiontime, and those routines just leave the interrupts off (e.g. CHOICE and GETDPB).

OK, now use this knowledge to create C-DISK? Smile

Well, I have offered my services to Maarten ter Huurne and even mailed him a updated version of C-DISK. But I have never had any reply. May be he is too busy Question

OK, now use this knowledge to create C-DISK? Smile

He is quite busy indeed. But feel free to send a mail again. It won't hurt Smile Maybe you can even send mail to the cbios mailinglist.

The main concern is that it is very easy to use parts of the original source code in C-DISK.... which is absolutely not what should happen, of course.

@Zeilemaker:
It would be cool to have a C-BIOS diskrom for our Nowind USB diskrom. At present we are patching an existing diskrom with our own driver part. Works great, but legally we are only allowed to supply the patches! I'm very interested in the updated C-DISK. Would it be possible to obtain a copy?

Do Sunrise have diskrom implemented fully by themselves ?

Kwik: it's still only legal if it doesn't contain code from original disk ROMs... But if it indeed doesn't, it would be great to have it in C-BIOS!

@Manuel: The patches only contain our own code! So, it's very legal! Smile

I was talking about the patches of Zeilemaker for C-DISK. If you want to use C-DISK as enhanced by Zeilemaker to have a legal (free) disk ROM replacement, Zeilemaker's patches need to be legal too.
