Someone needs to buy two of those 16MB memory expansions, plug them into a turboR and make a picture of the boot screen just for show Big smile.

It seems they have a replacement kit for the HB-XV keyboard membrane... something I've been looking for so long!

@Grauw, just bought and recieved one of those 16MB memory expansions for my TurboR a few days ago. But until now, it doesn't convince me to buy another. I wanted to use this to play large VGM's on my (also new) Neotron. As you know, most Neo-Geo soundtracks use lots of samples and tend to grow quite large. So the idea was to use the memory expansion in my Tecnobytes slot expander. When you use the 16Mb mapper in an expanded slot, you need to set a dipswitch and you can 'only' use 4Mb, because of it's internal slot expander to make 16Mb (4 x 4 Mb) possible.

But apparently, this memory expansion doens't behave like my MSX (testmap.com) and VGMPlay expect. I found this review by Javier Lavandeira that encounters the same issue: https://www.lavandeira.net/2016/07/multi-review-msx-memory-m...

If you would like to see for yourself, I can send this expansion to you to do some tests.

I've tried something like that with Playsoniq, a 4MB cartridge, a 1MB cartridge and its internal 512KB. It didn't show anymore than (iirc) 16MB. Will have to check again, but there was a max.

I assume you still have to use the Nextor key '4' trick (keep it pressed during boot) to make this the primary mapper on a turboR right?

I do have that 16MB cartridge. With my DIY MSX2+ with 2MB it shows 18432kb.
Not sure what the limit is but it shows more then 16MB.

(who ever thought these amounts of memory with be feasible on a MSX :-) )

Not for VGMPlay and other well programmed DOS2 software, they can use external mappers just fine. Forcing the external mapper as primary has a big negative impact on performance..

Yes i know, for the well programmed DOS2 software it's not an issue. Unfortunately some only use the primary mapper and so does SymbOS. And indeed the negative performance impact is quite huge when not using the internal memory.

Probably best to also extend the internal memory to at least 512KB (which should be easy on an A1ST) Tongue

I just wrote them an email to ask how to order a kit, and if they plan to make one for turbo keyboards.

That sony keyboard is friggin elegant. If I didn't already have a few brand new spare membranes I'd order his PCBs. Eventhough those PCBs will erode as well (I remember the Sony 700 keyboards I had) they're way easier to maintain/repair than those clumsy membranes.
He still has 4 units in stock. Guys, make him produce many more Smile
