Hi.
Thank you for the pictures.
I have the same problem with HitBit Art, but I think I know what's causing it.
Originally this computer was sold with the program on a floppy disk. Probably it should boot with a floppy disk inserted.
I suspect this because when I tried to fix the display problems on my computer, I disconnected the FDD driver PCB (upper small PCB), then the computer boots to the HitBit Art program.
Unfortunately, I still have a problem with the wrong display color.
If someone has an idea, please advice.
I described the whole problem earlier in this post.
Thanks.
The Sprite and Action options of the firmware can indeed only work with the HB-701FD disk. But the other options should work without this disk, as the HB-701(without FD) was sold without floppy disk.
Yes you are right, but hb701 did not have fdd or fdd driver PCB. As I wrote earlier, after disconnecting the FDD driver from the motherboard, the program loads without problems. I also found a YouTube video where the HB 701FD computer starts straight to Basic
I guess the problem is on the drive PCB and/or the connection with the mainboard, but I am not a hardware expert.
You're probably right again.
I have a damaged fdd drive and after running it asks to set the date, which I think is a symptom of a hardware problem
All MSX1 computers with drive ask to set the date, because they don't have a clock chip.
Thank you. I learned something new today. Good to know, this is my first Msx1 with fdd.
" I have a damaged fdd drive " : A known problem with Sony single-sided drives
is that the fat has hardened over the years. As a result, the floppy disk will not fall properly.
Carefully remove this grease and place some petroleum jelly. No oil
Thanks for the advice, but my fdd is not holding the disk (the disk lock is not working inside) and there is no sign of any head or motor working, only the led is working.
