Hi!
Just wondering of there is currently a way to use GLSL or HLSL shaders in openMSX or if there are any plans to incorporate these? I use these HLSL for Mame and I really like how configurable these are and they look fantastic on a LCD panel.

"GLSL/HLSL shaders" is a very generic term. Technically openMSX is already using GLSL shaders.
But I guess your question was: "are there any plans to port the Mame shaders to openMSX?"

Personally I have no plans to work on that (I'm also not familiar with these Mame shaders). But I can support/help anyone who's wants to give it a try.

Have a look at ReShade, worked quite well for me when I played with it a little while ago

Not sure about (possible) latency issues though, haven't tested it with a (fast) shmup, but KV2 played fine :)

Otherwise your/our best bet is a Libretro port (then you get all that stuff for free).

Some discussion on this & other stuff: openMSX wish list

Thanks! I tested ReShade in the past but the load on my arcade PC was to high and the latency was terrible.

Yes, I meant the Mame shaders, I should have been more precise. Smile

You tried it with openMSX as well? Not sure how long ago it was that you tried it, but things might have improved. (And my own PC is far from a 'beast' so to say (ah well it's my personal 'little beast' Wink))

Yes I have tried it with OpenMSX but my arcade PC is a pretty weak miniPC with only intel HD graphics. It runs all my emulators including mame ( I have filtered out all newer games) just fine but adding reshade on top really slows things down.

Ah yes, intel HD gfx isn't optimal probably.. Have you tried RetroArch + blueMSX core as well?

No I haven't and I dont want to go down that road mainly because my arcade is already setup with a frontend and several emulators. I have spent many many hours tweaking everything to get it just the way I want. Smile
