Hello,

I have the cassette cable already, but I am missing the cassette data recorder. I am looking for a cheap one.

I think it’s probably best to look for one in Canada/USA. Shipping from Europe will already be €25. Look for Sony TCM models and Panasonic RQ but also many other cassette players should work.

There are many possible devices, it doesn't have to be an MSX specific recorder.

Once you have a cable, you can connect virtually any tape recorder. Of course it is an advantage if it has a remote jack.

I consider this a nostalgically acceptable gimmick. We had good reasons to be happy about our first floppy drives in 1987, believe me!

To play cassette files in style today, I would advise the casDuino. With the new software update it can also record, as far as I know.

Romney's SVI-Cas Player can do this out of the box; but is probably harder to obtain.

The cheapest way is to hijack your grandmother's radio recorder. ;)

Models I found on US eBay that should work:
Sony TCM-818
Sony TCM-828
Sony TCM-929
Sony TCM-939
Panasonic RQ-409S
Panasonic RQ-413S (the S is sometimes mistakenly written as 5)
Panasonic RQ-2102
Panasonic RQ-2735 (looks good)
Panasonic RQ-2736 (also looks good Wink)
