Actually, Knightmare exists for arcades, and even on PC. Sadly the PC version is awful (EGA and PC Speaker) and the arcade version is (or was) not emulated (cryptographed).
The PC version is called Myth. IIRC the arcade one has the same name.
No, Slotman, I am almost sure that I read some years ago in UNMAMED (http://unmamed.mame.net/) about an unemulated Konami game called Myth (I cannot find info on it now, though). The screenshots in the site at that time showed a more polished Knightmare.
BTW, there´s also a SEGA Knightmare clone called Mr. Viking, not the same game I am talking about. :)
Yep, sure, encrypted code. There're no Myth or Knightmare listed as unmamed games; but I've found a curious "Sparkie", there's no pics of the game; but I guess that it must be the same Sparkie game.
but shoul the mame care about crypt? are the files not only dumps of the original and unchanged roms? and why wanted konami to crypt the data? to prevent copies or reverse engine ?
Actually the myth becomes stronger when you check the klov (linkie). That was spotted years ago at Knightmare Saga: "You control a knight who uses weapons on bats and other enemies." oO
