Weird!
Probably, it only affect some software that would use the Memory Mapper (256 KB RAM) or a MSX TurboR only 'megarom' ... Not sure about what happening in DOS.
Memory Access.
This could be co-related to the memory speed, since into some modes the contend of ROM is copied to the RAM and the DRAM (R800) mode is actived. Some older MegaRAM chips were reported to not supporting 7 Mhz machines (with or without Memory Mapper expansions) at all ...
Anyway, most software would be fine on Z80 mode!
MSX2/TurboR megarom software.
Some games (that "weren't ported to MegaRAM") seems to change the CPU to R800 mode, those titles were rumored to use the TurboR CPU for extra processing speed or maybe faster A.I.!
Yep, everything I tested worked on Z80 mode.
But, I have bought another megaram (256k), not from Carchano, which function perfectly on my FS-A1ST, in R800 or Z80 mode...
Not sure why that happens...
