I only made 2 samplekits on MusMod ever, both by sampling directly in MB. After that I've been using these kits or just ripped other's Tongue

I think DemonSeed has bad memory or then there is something that I just really don't know about MoonBlaster.I think DemonSeed is refering to that xadpcm tool mentioned before, not to MB Smile

Well... PCM2ADP also accepts only this one and only format...

I just did some testing and it seems that this tool is not very good either... Input file needs to start from silence, if you want to get reasonable conversion result. (First byte needs to be #80 ?) Also files >~32KB seem to hang the computer.

phoo... hmmm so there isn't a tool that would do all conversion on the pc then ?
it's a bit silly if you have samples on your pc, and you'd have to sample them
with the music module afterwards... converting would seem easier I guess

Knowing nyyrikki, he'll prolly be making some highly obfuscated basic tool that will do the conversion..Hannibal

Well, to end all mystery, I think to be have been confused with the MbWave for OPL4.

So I guess getting some extra RAM for the memory is in order. Tongue

It's not that bad after all when you know the limits... You anyway want more than one sample, so 32KB limit is not bad and when you cut your samples with care, you can make sure that they start from "zero-level". (Cutting them otherway would cause cracks and pops anyway.)

Actually I've had some fun today playing with this Big smile The bad thing about ADPCM-samples is that you can't cut them where you like after conversion. You need to make sure you cut them before.

Also implementing support for some PC-program should not be that hard using the C-sources (second link I copy/pasted)

ah, so basically if you cut them the way you want it on pc, then it should work with that adpcm conversion thing ?

mmm, I managed to slap something like a msx dos disk together from extracted .dsk files.
however I can't open this first link you sent nyyrikki, apparently it's some packed msx format ?
I don't know what files to put on the disk for doing the conversion : / (prolly because I can't open
the .pma file)

Yes

As MoonBlaster is really not sample music maker by default, here are few tips and tricks that I've learned during last few hours hitting my head to wall: (For sample editing I used GoldWave on Windows.)

- Take the voice you want to use on MoonBlaster
- Start MSX-emulator and make the MoonBlaster to loop one FM-tone.
- Adjust the sample playback rate untill it sounds good with the FM-tone.
- Resample the result to 8KHz
- Split the sample to Start, loop and ending (you propably want custom lenght samples) Make sure that all the cut points are in "zero-level"
- Save those samples to *.PCM (PCM, 8KHz, 8bit, Unsigned, mono) (this format might be called .SND or .RAW in your editor, you may also use .WAV but you might need to remove some header/footer data)
- Use the PCM2ADP converter
- REN *.ADP *.MBS
- Load *.MBS to MoonBlaster and save the result as samplekit
- Try to have fun

Easy as riding a bicycle (without chains)

Yes, (actually originates from CP/M)

For MSX: Google for UNPMA or PMEXT
For Windows & DOS: http://www.msx.fi/nyyrikki/pc.html
