...but not too many tapes are for MSX2. Check for bargains on eBay indeed; but remember that every five crap games you can afford a *good* game Wink

Look for cheap Konami's and give a chance to the MSX1 games, most of times they're funnier than their big brothers (Hint: buy Penguin Adventure NOW!)

If you wire $50 to my bank account, you may download Montana John and the Templar's Treasure for free Face LOL!

Konami's are good but most of the time they are quite expensive. Compile games are great but the real gems such as Aleste 1 & 2 will cost you a fortune. Nowadays, great titles like the XAK & YS series are affordable. They are really worth a try (and buy).

P.S. If it says KOEI, don't buy. (wow that almost rhymes). Wink

What's about new games?
There should be some MSX games for sale on the market.

Games like XAK , YS and others where on the budget market a long time ago. In the time that Takeru sold them with 50% cut-off price ... Just check the last numbers of the MSX-FAN Disk Magazine!

But Takeru is long gone and he asked for cheap games NOW and not 15 years ago. We only mention the must have games and the games that are worth playing/buying NOW. Ofcourse there are new games for sale (like Bombaman .Wink ) but the "old" titles below are what bjoern is looking for (I think).

Strange, I understood "cheap" games ($5-15 something). Classic games usually are older. Vintage games are even 20 years old ...

Anyway, there are games like Pumpkin Adventure on the Market. Even you made a citation of Bombaman. Sure, the legality of those titles is a little questioned ...

Maybe we need a new revival with re-releases of classic games! One that I want is Xevious, perfect for a re-release since even the games and paper is in plain English language. Only the box is in Japanese Language ... A classic in the sense of the word!

I only made a reference to Bombaman because I am a member of Team Bomba. Wink

But why would you re-release old games. I think it is better that people spend their (limited) spare time creating new games/software. Classic games can be obtained through Ebay or other (not so legal) channels. Why bother to re-release themQuestion

Because it is also illegal to resell used games ... Did you forgot the lawsuit presented on Japan? People told that in Europe there are similar restrictions about books and software (intellectual property works).

Well, this is not really a problem for people that sell original stuff because there are the collector editions. 10-15-18-21 years collections of classic games ...

It is legal to place orders for downloads of original games from official channels. The Nintendo Wii could be a possible chance to re-release MSX games on other virtual formats.

Illegal to resell used games ?
You mean selling illegal copies of no-longer-produced games I suppose ?
IANAL, but in such case the copying is the illegal part in the equation, no the fact that they are used.
And then the same rule would apply to books and software indeed.

But I never heard about such lawsuit in Japan, care to enlighten us?
