Hi guys,

I read on manuel's site that there's a STAGE present at the fair in Nijmegen!

which got me thinking...that it would be alot of fun play to some MSX-tunes LIVE with real instruments...with real wanna be musicians like MOI ! Tongue

Just think about it .... Solid's Snake intro tune ...or Maze of Galious World tune

I think it would be *WICKED* Evil

Acoustic instruments or a stack o' synths/arpeggiators/sequencers?

(the definition of 'real instruments' is subject to debate ^_^)

true...

I have my original Jazz Fender rigged up with all sorts of extra's...it can even send midi notes to my Turbo-R... LOL!

So both are fine...as long as the musician is in control of the timing/notes etc...and plays his/her instrument LIVE !

You could count me in, but I think we'd really really really have to:

* rehearse at least one time
* be 100% sure about with songs to play
* video record the "gig" else it's a shame

Playing (occasionally) through MSX-MIDI and having a real MSX real-time generating the input would be absolutely awesome I think!
Would it work fast enough?

Count me out for the live stuff (not my thing), but I could give some ideas. The basic thing to keep in mind: play the things that don't sound silly with the instruments available.

You don't want to play the fast/3rd intro of Fray with piano, guitar, synth, drums. But the sad letter from Fray is very doable. You don't want to play the DS6 intro with a limited band, but the village tune or the menu tune you start with is very doable with a typical band formation. The SD-Snatcher end-boss tune is something even the London Symphony Orchestra can't play, so neither can you. However, the sad message is very doable again. Even the first tune from the 3-part intro is quite playable. The intro of Fantasm Soldier II is hard to play unless you really have a lot of sounddesign/tweaktools. Then again, the titlescreen music is more doable.

So both are fine...as long as the musician is in control of the timing/notes etc...and plays his/her instrument LIVE !I'll bring my CD player then and a stack of CDs. With the [start] and [stop] buttons I control the timing, the notes depend on the CD I insert, so I'm in full control of the music, and I'll press the buttons LIVE!

Haven't tried it real-time...

I'm in favor of rehearsing more than once..
Ofcourse the whole thing should be recorded...

what instrument do you play ?

Me? How about your "music genius" ? Hannibal Cool

Well dunno, I'm not going to assemble a band. But once you have a band, with people who can read notes, I may try. Given I have time, which atm I don't have due study (tentams this week, yay!) and another TV series' music I'm working on.

@wolf_: I agree on the importance of "doability-factor" and picking tunes that are fit for arrangements as such.
I guess there's more than enough well-known, quite doable music in the rich MSX games library. We'll probably have trouble picking some. Smile

@RyJuZo: Mostly I do synth and could do bass guitar as well, in case you'd wanna grab a different instrument for one song etc.
