Hi folks,
it's been a long time since I've used an MSX and up until now I've never used any of the new MSXs and their fancy peripherals.

Im having trouble running the moonblaster tracker (found here http://members.chello.nl/m.delorme/) for the the moonblaster card under emulation.

Im using open MSX and I've edited the XML profile to give me 2 megs of ram but Im getting the error

Load error
Not enough ram available

I've read the manual and it mentions using a memory mapper if you're usinf msx-dos 2 (I don't think I am) and it also says somethig about disabling the ram disk, but I have no idea how to do this,

can anyone help?

thanks!

just holds CTRL key on boot up, that will give you Extra BASIC'S bytes free. Check the BASIC'S start up message to see the difference.

Moonblaster doesn't need CTRL.

sharop, you should be more specific if you are trying "Moonblaster for MoonSound" or "Moonblaster 1.4" (for MSX-AUDIO/MSX-MUSIC).
You are talking about a "Moonblaster Card", but that doesn't exist. Do you mean "MoonSound"? If so, you should use "Moonblaster for MoonSound" (probably you want the MBWAVE program). Use the latest version (1.16), which can be found here: http://members.chello.nl/m.delorme/mbwave.htm

Make sure there is enough free ram. Atleast 128KB and in combination with dos2. 160KB

Ah, maybe you edited the XML file of the MoonSound extension and not of the machine you're running? You can also just add an external RAM cart (extension name is ram512k)

Or, you can emulate an MSX Turbo R, and just turn on the Moonsound extension and be good to go!

Sorry if I'm not being very clear with what i'm trying to do.

I'm trying to run moonblaster for moonsound, the MBWAVE program found at the above address.

Im using open MSX to emulate an MSX Turbo R, specifically a Panasonic FS-A1GT.
I've edited the harware profile to give me 2megs of RAM but when I try to run the program from MSX DOS I get the 'not enough memory error'.

Thanks for your help so far, but I still can't make it run.

the turboR has more than enough RAM... so that can't be it. Let's try this out.

I just tried it, but it works fine... (as it should). I just put all the files from the LZH in a dir and added MSXDOS.SYS and COMMAND.COM, boot the turboR with it and run "MBWAVE". Runs fine... Question

Maybe it's something with the editting of the hardware profile to 2MB. Since it's physically impossible for a tR to have more than 1MB of internal RAM. I imagine that openMSX emulates this limitation and it may cause some undesirable effects.

Yes, it's good to put it back to the original config as it is plenty anyway.

All I do to run MBWAVE in OpenMSX on Windows is:

Fire up catapult, pick MSX TurboR FS A1GT.

Make sure a Moonsound is selected in the extensions

attach the MBWAVE disk image, and once It boots I type MBWAVE and go go go. You shouldn't need to have 2 megs of ram to run it.

MBWave doesn't need MSX DOS 2.0 does it? If it needs it and you try going from BASIC, won't it have memory problems?
