I finally got hold of a RGB cable and now tested the HB-F700P, it is all working fine!
Those matra ROM games work without issues, and a Japanese cart I got from ebay works after few tries (problem with the cart side) although it didn't display Japanese (it displays fine in my A1WX so I guess this Euro version of HB-700P has no Japanese font, I have never properly used a Euro version of MSX...) And it loads the Dragon Slayer The Legend of Heroes OK and plays fine (as I have read somewhere disk access is indeed slower than the Panasonic). I love the crisp graphics on my HDTV through RGB scart. Back in the day, I used to play with my MSX through RF in a tiny TV with a dial to change channels in Brazil so this is shockingly clear and I am happy! Thank you for a nice machine, I always dreamt of having a separate keyboard MSX.
There is a faster diskrom available for the Sony HB-700. Maybe Bas Kornalijnslijper sells these? I'm not sure though if the diskrom is placed on a socket.
