Retrotechie:

Thanks for your help. After some tries, the OUT commands did the trick. Now I've got a wonderful Philips VG8020 with 4 MB RAM and CF-IDE. And using the 4x slot expander, I could also plug a Konami Sound Cartridge (SCC+), MegaFlashSCC, MegaRAM, FM-PAC and/or an ordinary disk drive.

A powerful MSX(1) computer after all Wink

Jipe: do you know how the slotexpander works? We can't find it in the schematic (it only seems to be about the DOS2 mapper, not about the RAM mapper or the slot expander), and we wonder about the (sub)slot structure of the cartridge...

Jipe: we don't need the full schematic (although it's useful), but only the information in which subslots the ROM and the RAM parts are located. See also: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=421864&aid=905243&group_id=38274

Thanks! What's the meaning of the numbers 82, 86, 8A, 8E?
In which page(s) is that 4th bank of rom visible?

Interesting information about the NIHONGO (Japanese) MSX-DOS2.

Nice to find out that there is a "Kanji ROM" included plus the 256 KB Memory Mapper RAM. Probably it is to handle the 'Japanese' texts on the MSX-DOS2 programs.

Jipe, unfortunately all the web pages you pasted are gone Sad

We have this thing now working in openMSX, but I have not enough info on the Kanji part. What is it exactly? Does it have a separate Kanji Font ROM like some later Japanese machines? Which ROM is used for the Kanji basic?

What did you mean with "4th bank of ROM (kanji)"?

I don't remember if this was on that passionmsx/msxcafe site... Sad
