Tried both SNES end NES and yeah, they sucked. I'd love to give it a go with a MSX emu though Cool

Major complaint on the iPhone would be the controls. But there's a 3rd party peripheral developer working on a gamepad.

The iPhone SDK license does not allow interpreters for arbitrary code. So an MSX emulator would either have to be bundled with a fixed game (with permissions of the rights holder) or it would only work on jail broken phones.

Controls will be a problem for fast action games, but for puzzle and strategy games an on-screen gamepad would probably be sufficient. Some action games might even work good enough using tilt controls.

Why doesn't the ePhone have a Java based OS?

Why doesn't the ePhone have a Java based OS?

Not sure what ePhone is, but all android phones are bastardized Java phones (not all classes implemented, Sun frowns upon etc.).

For iPhone, it'd me nice to have a mini-dpad/A/B/Start/Select joypad (hmm!?!) that is pluggable into docking or phone jack. And all the emus are obviously on cydia.

The C64 emulator has been approved into the AppStore.
I think it's about time to have an MSX emulator now.
http://www.theiphoneblog.com/2009/09/06/quick-app-c64-commodore-64-emulator-iphone-hack-basic/

As you can see here:
www.theiphoneblog.com/images/stories/2009/09/IMG_0233.PNG
It uses a C64 image.

Now, the MSX emulator should be able to have a changeable skin, so everyone can have his own MSX showing :-)

Update on this shapp: linkI don't understand Apple's strategy on this one. Why does BASIC have to be disabled? Not due to copyrights, I guess -- BASIC is part of the C64 system ROMs which are obviously included... Are they afraid that someone might hack his way from C-64 BASIC into the iPhone? Would be cool somehow, to use the iPhone as a modem for the C-64 :P

Sigh.. well, interpreting isn't allowed. But I wonder how much damage one can do by running an interpreter in a sandbox app. There's no way the interpreter can screw up the system..

I love my apple stuff, but as a company I sometimes wonder what the hell they are doing.Question
