Hey there, I'm looking to buy an XRGB Upscan converter, preferably a 2+ or 3, as I've heard they work well with a Turbo R. If anyone has one they can sell for about 150 Canadian Dollars or slightly more, that would be great. I've been looking at using a proxy bidder to get one from yahoo japan but I'm still a little sketchy at doing that. Does anyone have one they can sell? Alternatively, have any of you used one of those Japanese proxy services like Shopping Mall Japan who can give me some advise on how those services work? Thanks!

Actually, forget about this, I found a converter that does what I need without all the extra crap that the XRGB units provide. Here's the one I'm ordering, I will let you guys know it's quality when it arrives, but I've heard that it's excellent, especially for old computers.

Please update this thread with your impressions. Most VGA boxes from online stores are pathetic, but may be this one is good.

Once I get it I'll let you know. I've heard excellent things about this one. I've seen it around for quite some time, and I've heard many good things about it, but I've been procrastinating on getting it, for my gs and my st and my amiga, but now that my Commodore 1960 (Multisync 15Khz, 31Khz) caught fire a few weeks ago now I need it. I could either get that for $92.00 or a used multisync to replace it for $180.00 from Monitor King, I'll gamble with the box first. I'll let everyone know how it is, if it measures up maybe our little community will have a replacement for the god-awful expensive XRGB.

I posted in another thread but I'll post here too. I got the Ambery scandoubler today and it's great. I tried it out on my amiga with my dell 19" LCD monitor and it works fantastic. It doesn't look good with the desktop, but that's to be expected and that's not why I bought it anyway, I wanted it for 15KHz only software. I have a 31KHz videocard for my amiga for GUI use. For those unfamiliar with the amiga, even if you have a graphics card, not all software supports it and some software, especially games will just ignore the card and display in 15KHz. Anyway, games look awesome on my LCD with the scandoubler. I'm going to try it out on my IIGS and my Atari 104STe. Usually desktops don't look good on these scandoubler boxes. Only the super expensive amiga-specific scandoublers seem to give a good picture at the desktop and even then good is sometimes stretching it. Anyway, for what I bought it for, it's excellent. Once I get my turbo-r, I'll take some snaps of the picture it gives, then everyone can decide if they want one or not. Personally, I know that it'll get lots of use with me, between all my classic computers and game systems that output 15KHz RGB, it's always going to be doing something!Tongue

Like I said, I don't have my Turbo-R yet, Bas shipped it last saturday. When it arrives, I will take all sorts of pics of games and the different screenmodes for you guys. Hopefully, the Turbo-R will arrive next week, so that should be all the time you guys have to wait to find out about all the pretty MSX screenmodes

I've now written a test program that tests all the different kind of failures that I've noticed during the years using CRT monitors, LCD televisions and Video projectors.
I still need to test it a bit more and write the documentation, but I hope I have time to finnish the testing during weekend.

I will mail you the test program and I hope you can run it then with this device (when you get your tR) and tell us about the results.

@NYYRIKKI:
That's an excellent idea! My e-mail address is in my profile, just shoot the program over when it's done and I'll give it a run-through as soon as my turbo-r arrives!
