Well it's not about preferring but I don't want to get into trouble with Takamichi.
I mean if you prefer doing it yourself or waiting for me to contact him to ask for his permission.
Man, respect!
BTW do you know if Yoshida Konzern is the most advanced version of the editor? Otherwise it be a shame to translate that one first...
Yes, AFAIK it is the most advanced version.
Well it would be nice to use his translation if he agrees to it. That'd keep in the spirit of this collaborative project you proposed.
And nice to know it is the most advanced version.
Did you see my french translation ?

Yeah I saw that one Django. It's one of your best yet. Nice touch adapting the introscreen.
I checked just to be sure but it isn't compatible with Yoshida Konzern. It is a similar program though but it is released 2 years before.

Fair enough!
I'll try to contact him.

I think there are 3 versions... the one Django translated, Yoshida Kensetsu and Yoshida Konzern.
I started an English version, maybe this can help you .
See my blog
Nice!, with YK translated more people could get interested!
Now, some bits about possible gfx....
Being a classic shooter (really?, no nice new theme ideas?), the Pixel Spaceships Project could be really helpful and fun to use.
The Pixel Spaceships Project is a nice idea!
I played through the sample game Lubeck and I think you can also make knightmare type games. Only drawback is that the only item you can pick up is a power capsule. But you can make chests/ blocks containing powerups. You can see that in level 5.
So keep that in mind.

Hey! this is great!

Sure... but if you touch the chest, you'll be killed!
This is one of the problems about something similar to Knightmare. Apart from that, there's the problem with the obstacles I commented before... they kill you in contact too and your shoots can't pass through them (in a river, for example).
Well, you are right that the chests will kill you. You can also create enemies that don't kill you, but those you can't shoot... Perhaps you can combine the two in some way. I don't know, only translated some stuff. Hardly edited anything yet...
The thing is that you probably can combine background with an enemy. I think they perhaps put a similar background block under an enemy block you have to shoot to drop a power capsule. So when you shoot it the power up is shown and showing an open chest. Didn't check in the editor. But when you play you can fly over the box once you open it (ie = have shot it).
Perhaps you can even use it in a similar way to cross water. Make the river objects which you can't fly through and where blocks are laid you place regular background (showing perhaps those ? blocks. THen on top you place an enemy that is motionless which you have to shoot. I think this can be done, but perhaps not as straight forward as you'd want to. Have to look in level 5 to see what they did exactly...
I think you can work around the problem.
