I finished transplanting my computer into an xbox case. I wired up all the ports correctly, I am very sure there are no short circuits or anything. My computer is a phillips nms 8250. No matter what display mode I use, I never get anything. On RGB scart the screen flickers for a moment then nothing, but the system remains on. Luma and composite just display these stripes. The only thing I can think of that may be bad is that I removed the RF box, and there are currently no cart slots, or floppy drives connected. The unit powers on fine, it's LED lights up. ANy help is appreciated.

Did the SCART work before the transplantation? What exactly do you mean by "I removed the RF box"? Are you sure all the connections are fit and tight? A couple of pictures (not too big, please) could help...

If you toggle something like the caps lock key do you see the LED going on and off?
try to blindly type color , 15 <enter>
and see if something change on screen...

SCART worked great before everything. I'll take some pictures in just a few minutes, I don't think it's my soldering though....

My computer does not have a caplock key.

I'd first check all supply voltages with a multimeter. You need both +5 and +12V to obtain an image on screen. Also: do you have all connectors between mainboard and analog board re-connected, not just the power supply? Perhaps check again if you plugged in the correct ones (MX -> AX, ML -> AL, MB -> AB, MP -> AP) ? And perhaps that service switch on the mainboard (white, square switch near the cartridge connectors) was pressed by accident.

My computer does not have a caplock key.
Yes it does, on the (external) keyboard. On the left, next to the spacebar, IIRC.

I am getting 5 volts, -5, 12 and -12. The caps lock key isn't lighting up when I press it, but the consoles LED turns on. I connected all the connectors properly, and the switch is depressed. All I did was desolder all of the connectors, like the scart, controllers, etc. And place them somewhere else. I do not see anything suspicious, no shorts or anything.....

Dead BIOS or worse...

Probably a dead VDP. Back in the days I've replaced many o VDPs in MSX2s. They're very sensitive.

CAPSlock not working etc is because the machine isn't getting interrupts from the VDP any more.

MagicBox: you've got the point there. If VDP fails, any interrupt-driven activity wouldn't work.

Which chip is it? Is it dumped? Can I just burn a new one?
