Good Morning everybody!

I have wondered what may have been the original price of FM-PAC music cartridge in Japan? Or any later (cheaper) 1980s price?

In which year it was originally published?

I just wanna dream once again, what it could have been if msx-music cartridge would have been sold in 1980s Europe too and at least some european software houses had supported it in their games.... (and if it just could had been sold in europe, then it surely had been "cloned" in brazil too!Tongue) If I know original japanese prices, I can calculate what it may have cost in 80s Finland. Smile

By the way, what was the original asking price for that dutch msx-music pirate cartridge? (by MSX-Club West-Friesland, they were so kind to even include their telephone number in cartridge label, not every pirate company dare to do that...) When it was first made?

The Dutch version (FM Stereo PAK) was sold for 180 guilders. That's about 80/90 euro. That sounds expensive but take in account that a second hand music module went for approx. 300 guilders.

The original FM-PAC was available in the Netherlands through a lot of usergroups and some computershops. I think they were 229 Dutch guilders of maybe 299. That would be around 100 or 140 euro. I have some old dutch MSX magazines at home with advertisement for buying the FM-PAC. I can look up the exact prices.

This is the original story

The first FM-pac are sold by a shop in Amsterdam voor fl 199,--

Later came checkmark with there FM-Stereo Pak for fl 175,--
The same sold by MSX-Club Gouda.
together with FM-Stero-PAK form Gouda, they sold the Korean Version.
This one has very bad sound, but with some modification it was possible for a better sound.

MK, Digital KC and MSX-Club West-Friesland had almost the Same FM-PAC based on the Korean FM-PAC. But Stereo
MSX-Club West-Friesland made a special package complete with Fac Soundtracker 2.0 with music disks for only fl 125,--
The last one was built on 23-11-2008 and sold for the original price (56,56) on Ebay.
350 FM-PAC's were sold with MSX-Club West-Friesland logo on it.

Damn you dutch bastards!! You once again got every imaginable msx hardware-add-ons I only could dream of, already in 1980s!!!! F*** U**!!

Tongue Wink (sorry...) (and that F*** U** of course stands for "Fooled You"Wink)

In 1980s, I just couldn´t even imagine there would exist such unbelievable add-ons like FM-PAC, I just imagined about such things......

By the way, 7800 Yens for FM-PAC was a "bargain", me thinks. As it is a little more than 1,5 x late eighties Konami cartridge price. I know, it was a such price, that it is possible, that maybe my daddy would had never bought such expensive thing to my MSX if it had existed in late 1980s Finland....... Sad

Anyway, Thanks A Lot for letting me know this curiousity At Last!!!! Smile
