Hello there,

Few weeks ago I bought a wonderful HB-F500P in pretty well condition, but as usually FDD is not working. Luckily I have a PC-adapted FDD which's fully functional. Anyway, I would be really happy to use its original FDD.

The FDD's error is DISK I/O ERROR. I don't know how to repair the unit or what the main problem is, so I'd like to know if any of you guys have some experience repairing hardware.

FDD's model is MITSUME D357.

Thanks for your time,
Alex

you have to look inside the drive.
Then you can see what's happened.

Maybe it is an option: I have original drives in stock.

As it does not say "not ready" it should have access to the drive hardware and it is most probably mechanics. There're software tools which you can use to read sector-by-sector to identify if drive can not read at all or just one head is having problems. I had several disk drives with symptoms like yours, what I did is cleaned drive, and adjusted heads using advianced diag tools. This way I restored 100% of the drives (fortunately there were no misused or physically damaged units).
