Riiiiight. Anyway, marlon-B, if you decide to make slotexpanders, please make them not too big. 4 extra slots will do. And if possible without powersupply. If necessary, no ATX powersupply or something. An overall compact slotexpander would be great ^___^

marlon-B, there are some MSX HW developers in the MSX scene:

But unfortunately some products are no longer available (specially slot-expanders!)

Such a pity that you donot follow the scene. Ese is already entirely gone and nowind interface we distribute as well that new cf interfaces have been out for several weeks now

alrighty then..

slotexpanders it is.

the last one I built was in the nineties I believe the design was done by Digital KC.

Have there been any new developments/bug discovery's regarding slotexpanders that are being used now?
Meaning are there some cartridges that won't/didn't(and does now because of a certain fix) work with it. This so I can test them thoroughly.

I have the slotexpander which was featured on the cover of an MCM issue. It came with some kind of external power supply, but it wasn't really necessary. I connected the external power supply once and it blew up all my inserted cartridges. Among them a Moonsound. So I don't use the external power supply anymore. But I do believe an external power supply is better because otherwise, the power must come from the MSX computer itself, right?

Anyway, that slotexpander probably is the Digital KC design as well. My 4th subslot doesn't work well. Probably because I don't use an external power supply? Furthermore, my music modules also don't work in this slotexpander.

So uhm, which design to use, dunno? I know Sunrise made one, but that version has an ATX power adaptor, it's not really handy. Better have some power supply which you simply plug into the wall Smile

I have design v3.1 with the last (I think) corrections.
I believe external power is a must. else only low powered devices will work when combined
and no worries I will test it extensively.

slotexpanders are very rare these days so thats a good choice indeed
i have two of them ;a 3.0 and a 5.0 (club Gouda-1995)

as far as i know the difference between 3.0 and 3.1 is a detachable cable and flipswitch instead of dipswitches

There is a thread on the MRC about one of the best slot-expanders once available for MSX: link
