The snes sound chip emulation sounds a bit out of place at first but still fun for those who like that.
That feature evoked some mild interest by me.

Possibly the most underappreciated soundchip of this day. :)

It would seem I misread your previous post, I thought you meant you already got the HDD through USB working. But I see you are working on that.

yes you did.

The usb connection which is already present and finished only supports direct communication protocols with a PC.

well I read that people go *GAGA* over the SID (C64) which is evenly out of place. But still it has been emulated for MSX.
And the SPC700 is technically superior. There are loads of free songs available.
So why not.
Ideal for true conversions of SNES-games. Which I would love(encourage) to see happening.

I couldn't agree more! Godspeed! Big smile

Possibly the most underappreciated soundchip of this day. Smile

totally true.

And as a special bonus for the musicians among us.

I will throw in firmware which can do a 8 channel MODPLAYER with the same chip.

so any .MOD .669 .S3M can be played in hardware.

yeah I also had an Amiga once so I emulated this one too.

Well I didn't meant to say it was a bad idea.. my appologies for my bad choice of words Smile Snes had some great soundtracks, mostly the orchestral songs like Chrono Trigger, FF6 etc.. But most samples sounded too clean for my taste Wink

Maybe in the future msx will be the ultimate platform for retro soundchips Big smile soon ym2612 (megadrive), YM2610 (Neo Geo), Yamaha YM2151+OKI MSM6258 (X68000)
Wouldnt that be something?

Wow, I though a new batch of slotexpander were already good enough, but your plans sound so interesting. About the Ethernet part, you know Denyonet is currently being developed. Even so, if you insist, make sure your Ethernet hardware is UNIAPI compliant, that way it will be compatible with already existing software.

well yeah it's so much fun to do some retro-stuff.
(Retro for me means not using a FPGA. But a combo of many devices)

Also the limit of only 4 slots was not acceptable to me.
Now with this design you can have at least 8 add-ons plus the 4 normal expansions.
and if you have two slots in your msx can have a total of 24 additional hardware expansions.

And I do believe this should be enough for a while Wink

no I dont know this. It would be nice if there was a "official" listing of all devices available or being developed.

I will definitely keep this in mind. Thanks for this.

But the ethernet is last on my list.

I'm busy with the sound-chip right now.
Then I'll start with the usb-storage/HID add-on. I believe the UNIAPI also applies here right?
