Yep, this is the latest one before the beta.
Please try it with ExecRom to see what happens.
And, let me know if you want the "beta" version.

I load the ROM with MGLOAD.COM. CRC32 is A50A572E. My version of Pepper II works fine.
This is possible that the SRAM timimg has impact. I will try with ExecROM.

In your A1ST, are you running the game in Z80 or R800 mode?

Ok. ExecROM, by default, changes most roms to z80 mode in a TR.
GDX, please download this version and test it exactly the way you was doing before, ok? Here's the link: LINK HERE

It's a beta version. You can identify it by the colored fonts during the game menu.

This new version seems to work well. Smile

There is also a noise at first display. Strange to it does not always happen.

PS: I can not use ExecROM because I do not have Mega-RAM.

Gosh! I'm so glad! I cant support hearing that Pepper II song anymore....
BTW, as I had to remember and review all of the source code again, including my patches over the Coleco BIOS, I ended up creating a version that uses the COLECO colored boot screen.
As we still have time, I'll try to add some other changes requested by Eric, like, at Game Over, instead of waiting the user to press # or * (Keypad) [mapped to "-" and "=" keys (after numbers)], add a little wait time and automatically jumps to game screen.

If I'm inspired enough, I might change the game selection screen. That's horrible! :)
Maybe if a nice soul could create a song for the game menu... But, apparently, ppl with music skills here are already fully booked!!!!!

*PS* Which screen you noticed the noise? What kind of noise?

BTW, as far as I know, ExecROM don't use Megaram for 32k roms. You can use it without it.
But, I think the problem was related to R800 mode. ExecRom automatically changes to Z80 mode by default.

I use RETURN and SELECT for # or * because it use same ROW and same bits on all MSX keys matrix.
And that's good because in general:
RETURN = retry a play
SELECT = Selection menu

On a japanese MSX "-" and "=" are placed on same key (same ROW and same bit). On a Russian key matrix "=" are placed on other bit.

Yep, I have also used Grauw's resources. I really hope those never go offline... Cool
My idea was to use the keys just after the numbers. Even doe I had to use some more coding.
But in the end, normally it's better to change the game more deeply trying to bring it more close to what the MSX game would be.
I mean, for instance, on Pepper II, what it would be the best option? Maybe some waiting time, like 5 seconds, that could be interrupted if space is pressed...
*PS* The BIOS screen looks really cool....

I agree. This is what I do for some games.
