Well, anything depends on the complexity of rooms (i.e. number of lines traced on the screen)
Consider also that the TI has a character based display to be accessed as on msx1 (at least the drawing part on msx2 could be in HW)

Face it people. True 3D on MSX (1,2,2+,Turbo R) will never happen. At least not at a normal framerate.

Just give it a try with the GFX9000 in combination with a nice boosted Turbo R or something.

With a Turbo R it should be fine also without gfx9000
R800 > z80 @ 15MHz (or not?)
