I was just thinking that I have not ever seen a picture that would use ALL of the MSX2 VRAM Smile

To fix this I created program that displays SCREEN 7 picture in 512*512 resolution. This means 512*512*4bit = 128KB of VRAM

Download here: HTTP://msx.fi/temp/512x512.zip

Soon available with more colors :P

Please note: This is not maximum resolution of MSX2 but to go beyond this limit you need to reduce number of colors to 4. ._,

This is using both interlacing and the overscan and set adjust tricks?

Nice, now it would be possible to make "better" conversions from other computers and 'Personal Work Stations' ...

@manuel No, this is just another version of overscan. With overscan "only" you are able to go up to 600 lines Tongue

huh? I thought overscan did a max of 240 lines... How can there be more? Or... does it just do all lines, so 256?

Well... so did I before I tested it properly today (I've not used this "feature" before)... When we leave interlace away we can get up to 300 lines. Practically anything over 256 is hardly usefull as most of the monitors are not showing these lines (at least if you don't adjust the monitor picture size) and also you need to trick it to show content from another location as there is no continuous VRAM after 256 lines. But... it is still possible.

PAL has 288 lines per field. Some fall off the edge of the screen, but I think 256 should remain visible. Not sure exactly how the VDP deals with that, but I guess NYYRIKKI does Smile

Well, the 512×512 image fits perfectly on my CM 8833. There's even some room left at the top and the bottom.

@Edwin Hmm.. right PAL has just 288 lines per field... Maybe we can use the rest to mess up with Teletext :P

If i am not wrong, PAL has 625 lines (312.5 per field). Wink. Some lines are not shown, indeed (teletext, blah, blah...)
That is the reason why even 600 lines can fit into it.

Once heard about a Teletext program for MSX, but i think it was only to edit teletext pages, not to generate (or maybe was..)

Nice trick, anyway. Smile
