Yes, currently I am a little bit confused, how to find out, if a disc is inserted or not. That's why you have these strange scanning on the 2nd drive.

Like the antivirus.

I know that Prodatron must be really busy with various stuff, but i am wondering if the support for the Toshiba FDC TC8566AF will be available anytime soon? I'd love to try symbos on my Sanyo-based MSX2. thanks. Question

Well, I have some new motivation now, as the Philips FDC works now nearly perfect Wink With am little help I may be able to get the Sanyo/Panasonic FDC driver up and running soon, too...

This may be off topic but does symbos works ok with slot expanders?I am thinking the following scheme. My nms 8280 has only 2 cartridge connectors.Right now one is occupied by the 4mbyte expansion ram,a second would go to the sunrise cd adapter and i would need a third to connect the mp3 cartridge i am planning to get.

So if i want to get a sunrise cf a ram and mp3 card i definitely need a slot expander.Would it work ok with symbos?

I think at least the IDE interface will have to be in a primary slot. RAM can be in a subslot for sure as MSX computers can have RAM in any slot. It'd prolly only select the correct mapper in DOS2 though, as I think SymbOS just uses the mapper being used by DOS. No clue if the MP3 can be sub-slotted though...

You can put the MP3 player in any slot. It's only I/O.

- The MP3 catridge is accessed via port addresses. It is not memory mapped, so I guess it doesn't matter in which slot or subslot it is located.
- SymbOS should be able to detect the Sunrise IDE in any slot/subslot. I just use the "Drive Info Table" (ah yes, I still use a part of your init routine, Toby Smile ) to find out in which slot/subslot a mass storage device ROM is located. In any case you can also pass its position manually via a command line parameter.
- Indeed the memory mapper has to be preselected before you boot SymbOS. This is done in DOS2, but not in DOS1. If there is a tool for DOS1, which can switch to the biggest mapper, you should use this, or you should use DOS2 or you should wait until I will implement something Wink

@Nikodr: Btw, I thought, that it's not possible to get a slot expander anymore?

@Prodatron:i do not know!i wish i can get one though! It is the only way i could take advantage of Symbos.Otherwise i cant have both a sunrise, the 4mbyte expansion, and the mp3 since i only have 2 slots. And Philips msx2 Nms8280 with only 128kbytes can't do much.So my only hope is a slot expander to have 4mbytes of ram with a sunrise CF adapter and mp3 cartridge.

Now where can i get a slot expander? That is the most difficult part of all i am afraid. Is there anyone that knows about slot expanders?
