It's up to prodatron to decide about this.I think though that he needs any help he can get from anyone that can assist him in any way.Symbos has become something very popular and something worth to continue supporting.
The reason i bought an 4mbyte memory mapper and expansion ram and the reason i plan to purchase a sunrise ide cf interface is symbos.Now if prodatron would support 9000 video card,i would surely consider to buy one
/me forces Prodatron to send source of V9938 driver to t00b.
(I wonder if that'll work
)
Indeed, SymbOS supporting the V9990 would be the perfect reason to buy the GFX9000 from Sunrise... Would this video hardware finally get the software that deserves?
[edit]Oh, there is good software for the GFX9000, it's just that there is not much.[/edit]
@Trebmint: http://www.symstudio.info/properties.html dont work. ;(

Yeah sorry there is still lots of stuff missing (or not working properly) in both symstudio and the website. I've only just looked at symstudio today after some months and have begun work on upgrades and adding the missing controls like list and combos. Once these are added I can list the properties in full. Hopefully then I'll release a new super stable version after v2 of symbos comes out along with a new notepad type application written using symstudio, which I'll include as a demo project.
@Sonic_aka_T: Ok, I will send or upload the screen stuff, soon. Now I remember, that some time ago I published this one:
http://www.symbos.de/files/screenmanager.zip
But I guess it will already help a lot, if you or MSD or someone else could just adapt one or two routines for the GFX9000 to get the right kick.
I also want to see my GFX9000 in action again, soon :)
@Madcrow: I am sure that there will something happen at the end of this year.

@Madcrow: I am sure that there will something happen at the end of this year.I do indeed remember that one, but I think you had already finished most of the SCREEN6 routines before I even got started. Regarding the V9990 routines: if you give me the source code of the SCREEN7 routines I could probably have a working V9990 driver a lot sooner than when I have to write all the clipping routines myself. It would basically be a matter of rewriting the low-level routines, and you're set. It would probably be a good idea to eventually work towards a screenmanager which uses a standardized driver for controlling hardware. This would allow for the developing of independent drivers for each platform, regardless of whatever mode it uses. It would also allow for a non-standard MSX2 with the VDP on different ports to work properly. (although there's like two of those machines... total!).
Anyhow, I would really like to help, and this would be a nice thing for me to do, since it's quite managable. I think msd would probably like to help as well, allowing the MSX scene to finally get a little involved with SymbOS. I also think that if we can work towards a driver-model for non-CPC systems it would increase the portability of the OS a lot.
t00b is quite good doing VDP stuff, he could develop a V9990 driver in a fair time if he has the source of the V9938 one...

Anyhow, it does seem like something I could prolly cook up while Prodatron works on the PCW port. Plus, I'm sure msd would be willing to help out if I run into any problems. Anyhow, I think it would make a funny project, plus I think a situation where people can help Prodatron by coding hardware-specific drivers is probably not a bad one. Just a thought though, of course...
Sure thing t00b... uhm.. Sonic_aka_t
