i found the problem. It seems there is a problem with the symbos.ini

There is a work arround. Remove the SYMBOS.INI (make first backup if you want)
Than start symbos again. It will not freeze now anymore. But all your settings are gone. To fix this use the START- RUN and browse function. Start the control pannel by browsing to the EXE file (appcp.exe) go to system icon and set your system path (a:\symbos\) (i don't now where your install is)

Then save the settings..

BDW: Don't enable the extentions as then you get the same thing again . it seems something with that... we will try to solve it.

So maybe .. other (maybe) better solution is.. install 2.1, disable symbos extentions, save your config in the control panel or startmenu!! replace the files for 3.0 beta, start symbos again and don't enable symbos extentions anymore until we have a fix Big smile

The easiest solution is just to delete the old symexten.exe . This currently doesnt seem to be compatible with the 3.0, which has a new one (net yet finished) for the advanced desktop.

Finally I got it working by renaming the symexten.exe Smile Thanks Prodatron and edoz Smile

I managed to connect SymbOS with the Denyonet, but it looks like the beta is not very stable yet.

  • I load the NETD-DYO.EXE.
  • Configure the network settings. DHCP is not working rightly, but manually setting them do.
  • Denyonet gets connected.
  • Network apps works as expected.
  • Things start going wrong in SymbOS, especially the desktop drawing. Take a look to the screenshot below.

In the following screenshot I didn't open many SymShells, it just one that is not correctly redraw as I move the window. This only happens after NETD-DYO.EXE is loaded:

Thanks a lot for testing! Smile
Oh yes, DHCP isn't implemented yet, sorry seems to be missing in the #readme.txt. You probably shouldn't do any DHCP setting.
What especially did you try before? If network apps were already working, what happens before you got this wrecked desktop? If the network daemon is running you should have its icon in the systray, but it seems to be missing.

Hum, I was not able to reproduce it, I think it had something to do with loading the NETD-DYO.EXE from SymShell, but I can't be sure.

Oh, btw, the README file states the DHCP is not implemented yet, sorry for missing it up.

Interesting.. I will test more with the config you have. Maybe we can find it. Did you start a Unify application before you got that screen?
