BTW, is there any need to run SymbOS from DOS ?
Can't it be just BLOADed ?
Well, actually, there is no need to run SymbOS from DOS as it a totally independent OS. So I think that there will be a loader soon.
Prodatron: if you want to format the disk and your MSX disk drive works, put simply CALL FORMAT and also, you can write it under windows, so you don't need to use your CPC for copying data.
Yours,
spl: the issue was, that Windows XP can't handle simple sided floppy disks -- Prodatron: better get your hands on a CF-IDE from Sunrise and try copying with that instead
Is the disk a true double density or high density ?
In other words is there a hole on the bottom right , if so , maybe you could mask it with a rubber.
Can you format it on msx and save a file on the disk a read it from windowsXP , for instance saving a basic program
in ascii mode with save "pluto.bas",a
"Mask a hole with a rubber"? ....
...
weird!
(But I know what you mean!)
Or use e.g. Linux, which can handle single sided floppies just fine
(Or a tool like diskmanager or dcopy, I suppose...)

Ok, ok... I didn't remember, as my MSX is a MSX 2 VG8235 but with 2DD floppy drive
Yours,
Now I tried Symbos on Sunrise IDE (both the first konamisized version and the one with RS-232) and compared to the CF-IDE (which cannot load but gives eighter no error message or just rubbish message) it now gives the message Error loading directory - Error code 02. Don't know if it helps you, but I just try to give you another piece in the puzzle.
This makes me think that if you get it to work in openMSX (which gives the same message, doesn't it?), it has a better chance of working on my msx.
I feel bad reporting bugs all the time, but I guess you might need it to fix it.
@Cax: An earlier version had to be loaded from Basic, but several people told me, that it's better to load it from DOS. For me this also has several advantages. As an example it's faster, as I can put everything in one file, while a basic loader would require many small files.
@Spl: Yes, I used CALL FORMAT, but Windows doesn't support single sided discs (there is only a single side drive in the VG8235), so I had to use SymbOS on the CPC to be able to access the disc. I already recognized, that MSX-DOS has problems to read files, which have been written with SymbOS, I just have to find out now, where the problem is.
