Thanks man! I'm trying out the idea of a MSX game using a Greek mythology theme, similar to what I did with the middle-eastern/Arabian nights themed pixel-art.

Hello fellow pixel-fans,

inspired by the fantastic artwork in this thread I would like to do some pixel art by myself. In former times I used to draw pics with the tool "AGE5" from T&E. I downloaded the disk from Grauws website (here) .
Since my MSX knowhow is a bit faded after 30 years, I need your help, please.
How can I start the program in an emulator like OpenMSX? The disk contains an autoexec.bat, but when I insert the disk (DirAsDisk) and restart the computer in OpenMSX, it will always boot to MSX-Basic. :-?
Guess I need MSX-DOS?

Dummy question, I know, but I can't remember how to do such things.

Yeah, that program requires you to add msxdos.sys and command.com to the folder/disk.

Thanks Manuel!
So, are MSX-DOS 1 or 2 files needed?

MSX-DOS1 is fine.

MSX-DOS2 is also possible but you need a Turbo R or cartridge with MSX-DOS2 ROM like an HDD / SD interface. Probably too much trouble for your use case.

With a little help of you awesome MSX gurus I was able to get AGE5 started (again after many years). And so here is my first "pixelated art" (well, it's not "pixel art" in a true sense)...
Originally, it is an pen sketch drawing on paper I have done many years ago.
I scanned it, downscaled the resolution to 212x256 and converted it to .BMP, then to SC5 (with MSX2BMP tool). Finally, I added some highlights and pixel corrections with AGE5. Thanks to sfranck72 and others for the nice step-by-step description!

Here is the SC5 file for Mr. Demon: DEMON2.SC5
