Now you've stated that Fastcopy is a simple copier and that DSK-PRO is faster than a simple copier.
Fastcopy isn't simple and you're slower.

Talking about stupid joke (sorry, couldn't resist)...

Here Fastcopy 3.0 takes 1:45 to read a full 720k disk. Maybe the european air changes the results... That is it.

I had some doubts about that european air hypothesis, and I also couldn't believe that a member of the world's top 3 best disk driver expert in the world by a huge mile could be beaten by teenage Alex Wulms. That really needed to be clarified.

My hypothesis was that the difference in Meit's benchmark was caused by the influence of Coriolis effect on the disk rotation. Cbsfox probably lives closer from equator compared to Meits, and DSK-PRO seems optimized for south-hemisphere or null Coriolis effect, when FastCopy is optimized for Northern one.

I re-created Meit's experiment, but put everything upside down (including monitors and furnitures, for scientific accuracy sake) in order to reverse the Coriolis effect:

Result is clear: MSX on the left side is now the fastest one!

Hope everything has been explained.

I think your experiment is skewed, Louthrax. Having the keyboards upside down will make it harder to press the keys to start the copy process since you have to fight gravity now. Since the one at the right is higher, it probably was started later due to gravity.

Alas, I guess we'll never know the real answer now.

Not talking about drinking beers or going to the restrooms Sad
Maybe we should send FastCopy & DSK-PRO to these guys using GR8NET to have more complete results...

maybe it is about 50hz vs 60hz ISR or if the ISR has extra extensions roms accesories hooked in, (or 3.58mhz PAL N vs 3.57 NTSC) , I can remember a floppy routine, that was just in time to not skips a complete disk turn, but executing in other machine, it skips in all track doubling the time that it needs to do the same job.
