I updated the database (about 30% done).

file_hash_db.zip

About longfile format: Where possible, I put the original title (written in alphabetical characters) and the English title (or the English translation). Then I put the indication of the language used in parenthesis (usually a letter "F, D, G, J, K, S" for French, Dutch, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish) and nothing or "Translated" for English. Then when necessary I put in square brackets the minimal information about the file (The letter A means "alternative version"). I do not put the release date or the product ID, etc to avoid overloading.

Thanks, @gdx! I will implement long file renaming option and test with updated db later today. I have to add some setup/use insructions manual to readme, will try to allocate some time for it too

I see that in the 'database' we have the developer already as well (although now in comments only). It would be cool to sort the games into folders per developer. If we want to have short and long names per developer this may have to be added to the DB...

i have added long names files renaming (and fixed a bug by the way). also added a folder with known hash databases and added the MSX ROMs hash (it has one error in yaml format and didn't parse, fixed that too)
@gdx - please email me at - i need your help to test it with Windows

I would also suggest adding an option to output short file names in lowercase. Why? They just look prettier. Tongue

Jokes aside, of course most filesystems don't care one way or another and MSX would show them as uppercase anyway. But lowercase letters can be more readable because letters look a bit more different from each other. Plus they're easier to distinguish from the eventual number.
