Hi, some time ago I remember there was a discussion and a sample implementation of simple Z80 assembler written in MSX Basic. It was probably written by NYYRIKKI. Does anyone know how to find it? Thank you very much in advance.

There's also one from the Dutch MSX Computer Magazine, called ZAS-BAS. See http://www.msxcomputermagazine.nl/archief/bladen/msx_compute... page 32.

Thank you very much, Manuel! Oh gosh, basic is a royal pain in the butt with line numbers instead of named sub/function like in vbscript...

I hope you realize MSX-BAISC is from 1983! For that time it was very advanced Tongue

Hi guys, I'm by no means wanted to demean msx basic. In fact I want to write a minimalistic assembler in it as a part of clear text, traceable compiler bootstrap process. But most likely I will end up using lex/yacc tools to generate this basic program, because doing it by hand with line numbers is kind of painful to me, since I never used unstructured basic before.

You could try Nestorpreter... A preprocessor.

Anything usable nowadays should go on pc
An assembler in basic would stay a nice funny oddity
