Look s great!
I would like a 2 pixel vertical scroll, do you think it's a great problem to add it?

I know you have to define more 3 patterns set. Scroll will became more slow but game play can remain the same.
A greatest rom size is not a problem today.

I tryed to make a scrolling game in qbasic(about 2003), "used qbdirect ("for scrolling-since basic could it be done..")"
main algorithm:
qbdirect: moved 320x200(screen13,256colors) pixels on line 2 to end(line200), and line 1 was read to receive your data's about land scenario, you start getting from down to up of each sprite!!!.
The others things, was not implemented, I give up the code.

ps.:Correction;
1 copy the first line into the second, copy the second into the third,....
2 repeate until ends.
3 when finished, copy the first line of data/sprite from below intro first line.
4 repeat until finished sprite(copying);
5 goto to 1st line

Hi guys,

I'm the author of the game. Pac has just told me this thread, so I'm here to make a little greeting to you. At first, last weekend I released the beta version at the following URL. Visit the YouTube page, you can get the DSK image or launch directly on WebMSX.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLnv6jQ29TU

This shootem'up is exactly the homage to XEVIOUS. In my childhood, I met the masterpiece and my first MSX; Matsushita CF-2000 almost at the same time, and both of them led me to the world of programming. I have twenty years blank of MSX programming till this year. However, WebMSX gave me something to bring MSX spirit back to me. And then, I'm now here.

The variable shadows come from the technique used in Konami's F1-Spirit. It costs almost zero while the execution. We just have to prepare a little different pattern and color for the same character code. I'm sure much more developers should make use of this technique.

This game is almost written with assembler. I built it by self-assembler completely on only WebMSX. I respectfully say thank to Paulo Peccin.

Any actions; player's input, moving characters, scrolling background, and playing the BGM, are executed from timer interruption just like general sound driver. That means the game can be functional with BASIC direct mode. I didn't kill the function of CTRL+STOP on the beta version, so you can try that by yourself. I wondered it would be useful for debugging. I mean I can PEEK any address while the game is operating. As the result, that was not so useful... :-P

This development is just warming up for me after a long long blank. So I have little intention to brush it up. Anyway that will be a great pleasure of mine if you enjoy playing the beta version and give me any advice.

Regards,
