Very much appreciated Smile.

Will you also provide a new Nextor 2.1 alpha build?

Yes, 2.1 Alpha 1b will be released together with 2.0.4. It will be the same as Alpha 1 but with the features introduced in 2.0.3 and 2.0.4.

BTW, there's still a problem that has no easy fix: Nextor can't handle files having more than 32767 clusters. This behavior is inherited from MSX-DOS 2 and is not a bug, but a design decision (it's even mentioned in a comment in code) and it's a fact used in various calculations performed when reading and writing files. Of course in MSX-DOS this was not an issue since only FAT12 was supported and thus a file would never have more than 4096 clusters.

In practice this means that when trying to read or write a file as big as half the containing partition a "File allocation error" will be thrown (this error is scary but the filesystem is NOT corrupted, it just means "I found something strange and will abort the file access operation"). I don't think that many people is handlign 512MB files in their 1GB partitions, but well, don't panic in case that you do and see this error message. Smile I'll try to have this fixed for v2.0.5.

Ok, I decided to release Nextor 2.0.4 now because the bug fixes already available were worth it. But there is a bug (other than the 32767 clusters limit) that is driving me nuts.

An user is reporting me that his MSX is crashing when using the AKID text editor with Nextor. The sequence is: open a file, copy some text, save & open another file, paste the copied text, repeat, and the computer crashes when trying to save the second or the third time. This happens when using Nextor in the MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD, and also when using the standalone version in one slot and a LPE SD reader in another. It does not happen in emulators.

I haven't been able to reproduce this problem no matter how hard I try. And I know that this person is not lying, first because I trust him, and second because he has sent me a video showing me his MSX crashing! Smile

So if someone has any thought, suggestion, idea or whatever... please shoot!

Is there something he can vary (e.g. different MSX machines) to rule out specific things like memory configurations or BIOS?

That's not a bad idea, he is just trying with is Turbo-R. Perhaps trying with a different computer will yield a different result.

On emulators, did you try exactly the same configuration to try and reproduce it?
