I can only do something about openMSX issues, not Disk Manager issues.... So, please try again using openMSX for this and tell me where it is going wrong.

Painful... do yourself a favour and use a more sophisticated text editor, several were already mentioned.

I might sound like a shill but I can't recommend VS Code enough, I use it for absolutely everything now.

Hi all, wich tools do you use to develope your projects? I'm searching for hints (and help so I can develope easily). Mine are:

My MSX game projects progress very slowly ... but when I do something I use:

Editor: BBEdit or anything but Notepad Wink
Compiler: mostly Z88dk (C, includes assembler and linker)
Assembler: when not Z88ASM depends on the project
Tiles, Sprites & whatever graphics: PhotoShop and msx.jannone.org
Maps: probably some self coded thing
Sounds/music editor: Arkos (at least for PSG stuff)

And OpenMSX for testing of course ;)

Didn't get any mail... You can also directly open an issue in the openMSX issue tracker. That's the best thing to do when you find some openMSX issue. All developers can then easily follow the discussion. You can also open a new thread in the openMSX section. (Less preferred but OK.)

Santi, the last month I've joined a basic challenge on a facebook group (retroprogrammig italia 8bit) and I composed all the intro music directly in msx basic with play command. First to figure out the notes using direct mode and then to play the whole music. The game had to be a breakout clone and I composed also the arkanoid start jingle, just to put a cameo in the game. And they very appreciated the msx sound (most of them are c64 users). One of them has bought a PSG after ear my music just to do a DIY synthesizer! Probavly they didn't know enough MSX...

I have just recently published the source code of two GIMP plug-ins I wrote for creating sprites and images (for screen 2). Both plug-ins export directly from GIMP to binary files (data representations of MSX VRAM sections e.g. the pattern, color and name table). Maybe this could be of help...

If you like to know more, just checkout the documentation page or the source code.

It's a bit tricky to compile GIMP plug-ins on MS Windows (needs GNU toolchain), so I just added a compiled version for Windows (64bit) in the downloads section as well:
https://www.msx.org/download/download/2019/11/gimp-msx-plugins_0.2.0_win64.zip

just learned in the Graphic conversion for any 256x192 into MSX1 graphics thread, that there already was a nice GIMP plug-in for exporting screen 2 images created by Sepulep...

I recommend to anyone, who is interested in using GIMP for MSX graphics to check this out as well.
