I forgot, you have also:

  • OBSOSMB. This one is quite powerful, but I didn't have the chance to try it. It will integrate your MSX into your Windows-based file sharing protocol network. Quite powerful as you can see shared folders published from your MSX. Amazing job konamiman!
  • OBSOFTP. Same as FTP, but this time MSX is the server Smile

Yes, OBSOSMB, I tried it but can't get a connection on my Windows7 laptop. I can start the server on MSX, but I don't know how to make the shared drives visible in my Windows7 environment :/

Well, at least we have a workaround! Smile The funny thing is that I don't remember why I decided to implement the DENYOINIT command in the first place... but turns out that it is very useful.

About OBSOSMB, it is more an experiment that an attempt to do a full SMB implementation. It was very difficult to make it work (the involved protocol is a nightmare) and it is far from perfect. Anyway, Latok, have you tried accessing "\\\" on your PC, as explained in the user's manual? For example "\\192.168.0.100\a".

Oops, I meant: "\\(MSX IP)\(MSX drive letter)"

ObsoSMB may not be perfect, but it's certainly an impressive showcase of InterNestor Lite! Smile

Yes, but then I have to press ESC everytime I boot my MSX. I hope you can find a solution for the problem Smile I'm using the 0.5 TCP/IP BIOS version by the way. That is the latest version, right?

What is not perfect about ObsoSMB? I'd like to start using it to transfer files from my windows environment to the MSX... I hope it is safe to do?

konamiman: maybe blueMSX shows no difference between the ST and the GT, but, have you tried openMSX? Maybe is a bit more accurate in this case.

It is "safe" in the sense that it will not (or should not) cause data corruption, since I am only using standard OS calls for file access. But it is somewhat unstable, sometimes it will fail at displaying or transferring files (anyway just retrying is usually enough to make it work). So don't leave it alone copying 32MB of files. Smile

What I did is to open two blueMSXes, load Compass in both, go to the debugger and examine the contents of the timer interrupt handler in BIOS. I saw identical code in both cases.

Anyway I have an idea for a workaround that is more user-friendly than the CALL DENYOINIT thing. Just let me some time to put my hands on my MSX.

I used the ObsoSMB almost a year without problems. Ok I have some problems with the booting part but not with the transfer in SMB
