Nyyrikki's kssplay can't handle everything. I remember I talked about it with him, but I don't remember what the cause was.

In KSSPLAY I don't support memory mapped devices (such as SCC) because that would slow down the Z80 emulation quite a much. How ever if it is used to do a conversion to some generic music format then the speed is not an issue... Unfortunately the version that is online is quite a broken. I have a bit better compiled version somewhere that has less errors in Z80-emulation, but at some point I managed to break the sources quite fatally because I didn't use version control. -> I should go though the versions and identify the correct files to compile a working version... Yes, it has been yet another entry on my todo-list for quite a few years now...

Amazing! He already mentioned this was somewhere on his list, great he already found the time and energy to actually do it!

It's been more then a year, but I recently I had some breakthroughs in understanding the KSS format! I've written a guide about it. Don't get your hopes up, it's not a guide that'll explain how to extract music from games yet, you would have to be a great Z80 programmer to do that. But it'll get you started for sure!

Yesterday I've added a script which displays all header information from a KSS file in a human readable format, including playlist information if any is available. Playlist support is in LibKSS I've learned, but no player supports it afaik, except in_MSX, the Winamp plugin. That's probably because it's completely undocumented afaik. Smile
