Cool, now it actually seem to work very good. The game almost runs too fast to what I'm used to! :-)

Is the turbo fixed from eg. Romhacking the right way to patch the game?

Just curious, what is openMSX Team Boosted MSXturboR anyway? Sounds good, but does not work?

Except for english translation patches, these are what I use:

What is your reference, "what you're used to"?

That machine is a turboR with all kinds of extensions and an IDE interface. It works fine for me, but perhaps that's because I formated the IDE harddisk image and put MSX-DOS 2 on it. But you don't need that for a ROM game.

Ah, I also get the Not Enough Memory.... I guess the IDE extension doesn't play well with this game. Indeed, when using a plain turboR with the IDE extension and this game, you get the error. Also, Metal Gear (1) works fine for example. Technical: looks like Konami games that initialize the disk don't work when the IDE interface is in the MSX.

I'm used to the game running slow and laggy. Now it runs very fluid. Nice. Time for a new playthrough.

The best playthrough I had before were on the PS3.

I'll just use a regular TurboR and enjoy it. Thanks for all your help. :-)

A little bit off topic... it's been ages since I tried to play MG1. How do you save? I know there's some tape thingie, but I really don't recall?

http://openmsx.org/manual/faq.html#savegame has all the details. If you're using openMSX, just use the savestates mechanism.

Right you are, again. The save states work fine. Thanks a lot.

I'll have me a MG weekend I think. :-)

You are running the turbo patched version of MG2? That path has a fixed timing routine which make uses of the extra speed of the turbo to run the games much faster then the original version. So if you want the speed you are used to, dont use that patch.

Sorry for all these questions, but is it possible to use a joystick in openMSX?

Yes. See the menu: hardware -> connectors -> MSX joystick port A
